Resenha-Ecos (Review-Ecos)

Ecos foi escrito por Pam Muñoz Ryan, autora que já recebeu o prêmio Human and Civil Award da NEA por escrever sobre temas multiculturais. E por esse livro você consegue ver bem como ela consegue juntar várias culturas.

Ecos was writen by Pam Munôz Ryan, awarded with the Human and Civil Award from NEA for writen about multicultures. And in this book you can see how well she does it.

Otto é o primeiro personagem a aparecer, ele se perde na floresta com um livro e uma gaita de boca que comprou de uma cigana. O livro conta sobre três irmãs que foram aprisionadas por uma bruxa e ele descobre que o livro não termina a história delas quando as encontra. Elas o ajudam a sair da floresta e ficam presas na gaita, para ajudar a salvar uma vida e quebrarem sua maldição. E então somos levados a conhecer três histórias diferentes, todas conectadas por essa gaita. Um garoto alemão, com o sonho de ser músico, durante a ascensão do Nazismo, um garoto num orfanato que se recusa a deixar seu irmão e uma filha de emigrantes nos Estados Unidos que cuidam da casa de japoneses enviados ao um campo de concentração durante a segunda guerra.

Otto is the first character we met, he gets lost in the woods with a book and an harmonica he bought from a gypsy. The book tells the sotry of three sisters locked by a witch and he discovers the book is incomplete and it ends when he encounters them. They help him getting out of the woods and they get locked in the harmonica, and their curse will fade when they end up saving someone. We are invited to learn about three people and their stories, all conected by that same harmonica. A German boy during the start of nazis, when he just dreams of becoming a musician, a boy in a orphanage that refuses to let his brother, and a girl and her brother, immigrants in the EUA, taking care of a house from a Japanese family, that ended in a concentration camp during the second world war.

O livro é muito tocante e ele para cada uma das narrativas num ponto que te deixa louca para saber o que vai acontecer, mas quando você começa a próxima história você também se envolve. E no final a autora mostra o que aconteceu com os personagens e com os espíritos das irmãs na gaita.

Eu gostei muito da escrita da autora, você começa a ler e não consegue mais parar (ou foi o que me aconteceu). E os personagens são diferentes entre si, estão em lugares diferentes, em períodos diferentes e todos se conectam através da música e da gaitinha.

The book evokes lots of feels and it finishes each story in a point where you can't stop reading because you need to know what will happen, and it starts the next story. In the end you discover what happened to the girls locked in the harmonica and the other characters. I love how the autor wrote this and I coudn't let the book down until I reach the end. The characters are unique, and they are all in different places and time, but they all are connect by the music and the harmonica.

O livro é muito bonito e tem detalhes maravilhosos, como a maioria dos livros da Darkside. A capa é dura e é igual a capa original (do livro em inglês Echo). Tem uma fitinha para marcar as páginas, o que eu descobri ser muito útil para quem lê em ônibus (porque não precisa segurar um marca páginas ou se preocupar em perder o seu).

And the edition of the book is amazing, like it aways is with Darkside. I have the portuguese version that was publish in Brazil, but the cover is the same as the English version. Mine have a little ribbon  to keep your track.

A parte de dentro da capa tem desenhos de árvores laranjas (no começo) e azuis (no final) e o começo dos capítulos são floreados. As páginas que contam a história das irmãs como um conto de fadas são pretas com a escrita branca, então você consegue perceber bem a diferença entre as partes do livro. No começo e no meio tem alguns detalhes de partituras e músicas que aparecem pela história, que eu achei ser um detalhe muito bem pensado. E para completar a estética, todas as páginas tem a lateral, a parte de cima e a de baixo pintadas de laranja, o que contrasta com a capa azul.

Inside it have drawings of trees in orange and blue and all the chapters starts with flowers. The pages talking about the sisters are in black, so you can know when it's their "fairy tale" and when it's the other characters. There's some music sheets details too. 

A tradução para o português foi feito pelo Dalton Caldas, eu não achei nenhum erro ou algo estranho durante a leitura. E as palavras estrangeiras foram deixadas intactas (como Eins, Zwei e Drei que são os nomes das irmãs e um, dois, três em Alemão) e são importantes para a história.

About the translation to portuguese, it was nicely done by Dalton Caldas. Some words were in Germany but it makes sense in the book.

Eu gostei muito da história, da escrita e tradução, da edição e eu super recomendo esse livro.

I love the story, really like the design of the book and I definetly recommend it.
